Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston – Narce Segovia of Mission, Texas, was commissioned a lieutenant junior grade in America’s Navy through the Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP) at Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio Headquarters. 

She attended Texas State University (TSU) earning a Master’s of Healthcare Administration and will attend the five-week Officer Development School in Newport, R.I., with follow-on orders to Naval Hospital Guam. 

Administering the oath was retired Army Lt. Col. Dr. Jose Betancourt, who teaches Public Health for Healthcare Administrators at TSU. HSCP is a scholarship program designed to provide financial incentives for students in designated health care professions to complete degree/certification requirements and obtain a commission in the Medical Corps (MC), Dental Corps (DC), or Medical Service Corps (MSC).

NRD San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 34 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
