McALLEN, Texas – Hidalgo County Precinct 4 has announced the postponement of the groundbreaking ceremony for Mission–McAllen Drain Phase IV, originally scheduled for Wednesday, January 21.
The groundbreaking ceremony has been rescheduled for Friday, January 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the same location.
The Mission–McAllen Drain Phase IV project is part of the 2023 Bond Program and represents a continued investment in critical drainage infrastructure across Precinct 4. The project builds upon the success of the Mission–McAllen Drain initiative, as the other three phases have already commenced, with some phases now completed.

Over the past several years, Precinct 4 has worked to improve drainage infrastructure by leveraging in-house projects, funding from the 2018 and 2023 Bond Programs, and state and federal resources. These combined efforts have resulted in significant drainage improvements that enhance flood mitigation and community resiliency.
Project scope for Phase IV includes:
- Ditch regrading
- Ditch reconstruction and widening
- Ditch re-alignment
- Installation of concrete riprap
- Construction of storm drain structures
Community members are encouraged to attend the rescheduled ceremony.
