MISSION – Jose Juan Hernandez, 32, of Mission, Texas, entered a plea of guilty to one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
On December 4, 2022, the Mission Police Department was notified that an eleven year old male made an outcry of sexual abuse against the defendant. The child was interviewed by a forensic interviewer and underwent a sexual assault examination. During each examination, the child made an outcry that he had been sexually assaulted by Hernandez on numerous occasions.
On Monday, May 13, 2024, Hernandez was sentenced by the court to 25 years to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on a count of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Mission Police Department, the Hidalgo and Starr County Children’s Advocacy Center, Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance Safe Haven, and the Weslaco DPS Criminal Laboratory.
Chief Assistant Criminal District of Major Crimes Hope Palacios prosecuted the case.
