MISSION – A man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Nelson Zamora, 54, was sentenced to 15 years after he pleaded guilty to one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, announced Hidalgo County District Attorney Toribio “Terry” Palacios.
On March 25, 2022, Mission Police Department was notified of a minor female who made an outcry of sexual abuse against Zamora, when she was 7 years old. The child was interviewed by a forensic interviewer and underwent a sexual assault examination. During each examination and through the investigation, it was determined Zamora had been sexually abusing the minor child for 3 years.
The sexual abuse occurred when Mr. Zamora was alone with the victim at a residence in Mission, Texas.
The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Mission Police Department.
