MISSION, TX- The City of Mission, Mission Economic Development Corporation, and the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce have launched a COVID-19 task force as part of a joint initiative to help local businesses recover from losses caused by the pandemic. The Business Economic Recovery Committee (BERC), which is composed of city officials, local businesses, and community leaders, is spearheading “Our Mission Forward,” a project aimed at offering homegrown businesses the resources they need to navigate COVID-19. The BERC will continue to explore opportunities to help local businesses thrive even after the pandemic has passed.
“Local and small businesses are essential to the success of our global economy. Our Mission Forward is an effort to keep our businesses running and to save jobs by coming together to share valuable information and ideas,” Daniel Silva, CEO of the Mission EDC said. “We encourage all of our business owners to help us identify and promote local businesses that need our support.”
A website was also created as part of the initiative to offer free support and guidance to Mission businesses. The site is expected to improve communication between local business owners and city departments. The goal is to help companies resume regular operations as quickly as possible. The website also includes a survey aimed at gathering accurate business contact information to keep owners updated on COVID-19 developments through email or phone. Mission business owners are encouraged to complete the survey as soon as possible.
