The City of Mission is urging neighboring communities to help honor our Rio Grande Valley Veterans. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the City had to cancel their 2nd Annual Veterans Day Parade, but we continue the tradition to remember the fallen by honoring the living. On Saturday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. ALL Valley Veterans are invited to enjoy a complimentary BBQ plate as appreciation for their hard work and sacrifice.
The Veterans’ Appreciation BBQ at the Mission Event Center will feature a chicken plate with all the trimmings, while supplies last.
Veterans are urged to decorate their vehicles in red, white, and blue to showcase their patriotism as they pick up their plates. First responders are also being asked to join the festivities to honor the military heroes with lights and sirens as they drive-thru “Honor Lane” at the Mission Event Center.
In addition, the Hidalgo County Veterans Services department will be on-site to promote military services and government resources available to local veterans.
