“Hi, I’m Teclo Garcia, CEO of the Mission Economic Development Corporation. We’re excited to introduce our brand new website, a hub designed to bring the Mission business community closer together than ever,” Garcia said in the video.

Brianna Casarez, Program Director, emphasized that the platform is designed to improve accessibility. “Our new website makes it easy to access all the resources you need from community reports and statistics to applying for programs, grants, and incentives,” she explained.

Chief Operating Officer Belén Guerrero-Aguirre highlighted the interactive features, adding, “And if you want to engage with our team, explore seed membership opportunities, or just stay connected with economic development and Mission, it’s all in one place. Your one-stop shop for all things growth and opportunity. Check it out today and see how Mission EDC can help your business thrive.”

The website highlights Mission’s strategic role as a border city, underscoring its “strategic location along the U.S.–Mexico border” and promoting it as “where grit meets business.” The homepage highlights recent milestones, including a Mission-based developer investing $50 million in the first phase of a 145-acre industrial park at Anzalduas and Ubiquity’s new customer-service center, projected to generate $31.7 million in economic impact and nearly 350 new jobs.

Programs featured on the site include the Ruby Red Ventures – Build Mission Fund, which awarded $200,000 in 2024 to 15 local firms, as well as upcoming funding opportunities, such as The Competition, offering up to $25,000 for early-stage ventures. The Downtown Assistance Program, with grants of up to $25,000 for front improvements, is also scheduled to open in August 2025.

Mission EDC also promotes its Center for Education & Economic Development (CEED), described as “55,000 square feet, where entrepreneurs launch, students learn, and ideas take root.” CEED offers coworking memberships starting at $100 with access to Wi-Fi, printing, and conference rooms.

On infrastructure, the site details the $88 million expansion of the Anzaldúas International Bridge, scheduled for completion in early 2025. “We’re expecting a few thousand trucks per day once it opens to commercial traffic late this year or early 2025,” Garcia has noted.

The new website further provides demographic data, workforce information, and tax rates. Mission reports a 2024 population of 87,234, with a median household income of $88,528 and more than 2,100 businesses employing over 20,000 workers.

Mission EDC’s leadership, including a City Council-appointed board and staff led by Garcia and Aguirre, is also profiled, alongside financial transparency documents such as annual budgets and audits.

With its redesigned website, Mission EDC seeks to provide tools for entrepreneurs, site selectors, and partners. As the organization states, “opportunities aren’t found — they’re built,” and the site aims to help companies build those opportunities in Mission.
