MISSION, TX – Two Mission businesses issued checks to three community nonprofits this week as part of their performance agreements with the Mission Economic Development Corporation.
Tekna Impact LLC, a manufacturer of print labels that relocated to Mission last year, and Haidar Properties, which opened asecond IHOP location in Mission in June, made the donations on Wednesday, Sept. 6, to Mission Fire Department, Amigos Del Valle and Paws Fur Help.
These generous contributions were spearheaded by Mission EDC through performance agreements it executed with both companies.
Haidar Properties donated a total of $6,000 to two nonprofits: $3,000 to the Mission Fire Department and
$3,000 to Amigos Del Valle.
“Our main goal here at Mission EDC is to create a better community through continued business investments and job creation,and we take that charge very seriously,” Mission EDC CEO Teclo Garcia said. “When we include in our contracts that businesses that get our help must turn around and help others, we foster an ecosystem that will produce empowered communities.”
Mission Fire Chief Adrian Garcia said his department will use the funds to roll out an accountability system that will trackfirefighters while they’re out battling fires to ensure that everyone is accounted for and has the proper resources at any given time.
Amigos Del Valle Executive Director Alex Guerra said the funds will help his organization continue to feed Mission families. This year alone, more than 60,000 meals have been served within city limits, he said.
Ernesto Gonzalez, president and founder of Tekna Impact, said his company recently started to delve into the dog-food business.
Man’s best friend doesn’t need words to communicate because their loving actions speak louder than words, Gonzalez said as he presented a $1,000 check to Paws Fur Help.
The Mission-based nonprofit is composed of volunteers that promote animal welfare through advocacy and animal transports.
