Mission, TX – Mission City Manager Randy Perez can now add the Walk of Fame to his list of accolades. Perez was recognized at the annual Walk of Fame dinner at Payne Arena on March 4, 2020.

“It comes as no surprise that Randy would be chosen for this recognition. He is incredibly deserving and exemplifies what it means to be a great leader,” Mission Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña said. “The council and I are thankful that he continues to deliver guidance for our city.”

The event is held annually in conjunction with the city of Hidalgo’s Borderfest festivities. Honorees were presented with a commemorative gift as a special memento. The RGV Walk of Fame celebrates the achievements and significant civic contributions of people that have made a difference in South Texas. Each year, nominations are received from cities and chambers of commerce across the Valley. Inductees are chosen by the RGV Walk of Fame Commission.

“I am humbled. It is truly an honor to be recognized on the Walk of Fame,” Perez said. “I have been abundantly blessed during my career to be surrounded by outstanding city council members and excellent staff. Receiving this award wouldn’t be possible without their support.”

Perez received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a degree in Accounting and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas-Pan American. He is also a Certified Public Manager.

“We have a great leader in Mission,” said Mayor O’Caña. “Randy cares about this community and he has spearheaded some meaningful projects that will improve the quality of life and economic development in our city. This award is just more proof of that.”

Perez has served the City of Mission for 18 years in various capacities including Chief Accountant, Grant Administrator, Assistant Finance Director, Finance Director, Deputy City Manager, and was officially named City Manager just over a year ago.

“I will never forget my humble beginnings with the struggles and challenges I faced growing up, that’s why I’m committed to help our youth fulfill their goals and dreams as I continue to support the various boards and organizations in our community that will promote educational growth and success to our City of Mission and our citizens,” Perez said.
