Mission Chamber says it will provide students with school-related items

Mission, TX – The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Mission Citrus Golf Classic on Friday, March 29, 2019, at the Cimarron Country Club. It generates funds to provide continual support and resources to students of Mission Consolidated Independent School District.
All proceeds will be used to assist Mission CISD’s Annual Back-to-School Bash event, held in August, by providing thousands of backpacks and supplies for the upcoming school year to families and students. “We want to thank all participants and the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce for coming together for a great cause,” said Craig Verley, Director of Public Relations and Marketing. “It has allowed for a greater number of students in the district to receive back to school related items to help ease the burden on families who may struggle with getting all the supplies their children need to have a successful start to the school year.”
Over 81 participants enjoyed a day of golf and attractions throughout the 18-hole, 3-man team Florida scramble-style golf tournament. These attractions included a putting contest hosted by Wyndham Garden – McAllen, a beverage tent hosted by Careers Unlimited, and a chance to win $10,000 in cash during a hole-in-one contest.
Sponsors played a key role in the success of the annual fundraiser. “We are so grateful for the generosity and support of our sponsors. It was a splendid tournament and we are looking forward to seeing smiling faces on those students who will own a new backpack this fall,” said Brenda Enriquez, President & CEO at the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce.
Some of this year’s Mission Citrus Golf Classic sponsors included Mission Consolidated Independent School District, Bert Ogden – Rio Grande Valley, Mission Regional Medical Center, Noble Texas Builders, and Royal Technologies.
The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce aims to continue to support its business community and Mission CISD students by providing them with necessary resources to thrive.
