Mission, Texas – The Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Border Patrol held its first “Head of the Class” awards ceremony of the school year, recognizing high school seniors who demonstrate exemplary character and determination to succeed. Three students from Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) were included in the ceremony.
The Mission CISD students recognized were: Anahi Molano from Mission Collegiate High School, Alan Castellanos from Mission High School, and Linda Estrella Flores Garcia from Veterans Memorial High School.
The Head of the Class program is an award to recognize high achieving scholars from school districts throughout the RGV. The students are nominated by their respective school counselors and submitted to the RGV Sector Border Patrol.
Today’s event will lead to RGV Sector’s 10th year anniversary of the Youth of the Year award. Various organizations and community leaders will collaborate with the Border Patrol to honor the Youth of the Year winners with a ceremonial meal and monetary scholarship donation that will be presented during the Youth of the Year ceremony.
