Mission, Texas- The Mission area now has a new option for getting free and reliable COVID-19 testing. Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) has worked with Hidalgo County and Curative, Inc. to provide the new service.

Beginning Monday, December 7 area residents are able to get free COVID-19 tests performed at a walk-up kiosk at Tom Landry Hall of Fame Stadium. The kiosk will be open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the testing site will be open from 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Curative provides an FDA-authorized cheek swab test for COVID-19 that gives results within 24-48 hours and is the more reliable PCR test. Testing is free to the public. No appointment will be needed and individuals do not need

to exhibit symptoms to be tested. Testing is limited to people who are ages 5 and up.

“We are excited to be able to help provide this vital service to our community,” said Dr. Carol G. Perez, superintendent. “Testing plays such an important role in the pandemic response systems. Being able to help provide a space for reliable and quick testing will be a real benefit for many in our area.”

The COVID-19 testing kiosk will be a manned testing facility. However, the tests will be self-administered oral swabs.

The Tom Landry Hall of Fame Stadium testing site can be accessed from gates on Kika de la Garza loop.
