Mission, Texas – Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) officials recently surprised a member of the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) staff with a very special visit. Superintendent Dr. Carol G. Perez dropped in at the Central Production Center to let cook/server, Maria Dalia Cortez know she was selected as the 2020 Mission CISD Staff Member of the Year. Cortez has been with the district for 17 years. The district honor included a special glass award and a $500 check provided by the Education Foundation of Mission CISD.
Mission CISD traditionally honors all the building staff members of the year at a special luncheon in May. The COVID-19 pandemic upended many traditional events like this.
Each Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) campus/building selected a paraprofessional/hourly employee to honor as its Staff Member of the Year. Those individuals are recognized for their positive influence on their worksites, colleagues, people they serve, and for initiative in getting things completed. Each campus/building Staff Member of the Year is then nominated for the district-level honor.
