Mission, TX – During these trying times, small businesses in the Rio Grande Valley are already feeling the impact that the COVID- 19 pandemic is having on the local economy. The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mission are working together to give small businesses the opportunity to optimize their marketing tactics and boost business via Facebook. A special page will allow them to promote their business, current operations adjustments, and customer incentives. For example, while local businesses are currently limiting or closing dine-in areas, they are still trying to make ends meet by offering free food delivery or curbside pick-up.

A Facebook group page entitled, “GMCC Members/ Mission Area Take-Out and Delivery Options amid Covid-19” can be accessed at https://www.facebook.com/groups/253894225618317/

It was created to help businesses spread the word that they are still operating under modified conditions.

“It is crucial that we come together as a community to help one and other to get through these challenging times. While there is unease from a health perspective, there is a concern as well for the livelihood of a lot of our business owners, who make up the majority of our membership and who make a big contribution to our local economy,” said Brenda Enriquez, President & CEO at the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce.

The local community can help spread the word by sharing the link on their personal Facebook pages.

“We must work together to get creative and stay ahead of things now. I certainly hope our Valley businesses take advantage of this promotional opportunity,” Mission Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña said. “After all, they’re the backbone of our economy. We must provide support to our small businesses to help them overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing.”
