Mission Chamber Celebrates Winter Texan Community

Winter Texan Fiesta to take place at Mission Event Center.

MISSION, TX – The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce their Annual Winter Texan Fiesta, sponsored by Bert Ogden Mission. The festivities will be held at the Mission Event Center, 200 N. Shary, Mission, TX, on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 12 P.M. – 7 P.M. and on Saturday, February 16, 2019, from 10 A.M. – 5 P.M.

The annual two-day event is free, open to the public, and is held to show appreciation to the Winter Texan community that call the Rio Grande Valley home during the Winter season. On Friday, attendees can enjoy food from local vendors and can shop at the Artesano Market where local and Mexican Artesano’s will be selling handcrafted items. Attendees can catch a movie at the Mission Historical Museum will be screening “She Came to the Valley” during the two-day event throughout the day.

Enjoy live music at the outdoor concert hosted by the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce on Saturday. “We are excited to show our Winter Texans genuine South Texas hospitality! Our Winter Texans have shown much appreciation to our community and continue to call Mission their second home,” said Brenda Enriquez, President and CEO at the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce. Attendees can expect to hear from the following acts

  • Bob Dollie & Friends Band, performing Texas swing
  • Kody Norris Bluegrass
  • Eldon Hardekopf & The South Texas Whisky Band, performing Country Classic Music
  • William Florian, Former lead singer for the Christy Minstrels.
  • Mission Eagle High School “Mariachi Aguilas”

The Mission Historical Museum will continue to have their indoor event starting with a presentation of “The Life of Tom Landry” presented by Manuel Hinojosa at 10 A.M. Also on exhibition will be the Queen Citrianna dresses displayed in the Mission Event Center lobby.

Free lunch will be provided by the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce to the first 2,500 attendees. Free meal and t-shirt tickets must be collected in advance on the week of February 11, 2019, at the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, located on 202 W. Tom Landry, Mission, TX, 78572.
