The Miss Weslaco and Miss Onion Fest pageant was held on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at the Weslaco ISD Performing Arts Center. Several young ladies competed for one of five titles that included Miss Weslaco and Little Miss Weslaco, as well as Miss Onion Fest, Miss Onion Blossom, and Miss Pearl Onion Princess.
Daisy Alexandra Ramirez, a junior at Weslaco High School, was crowned as Miss Weslaco 2019 and is the daughter of David and Janie Ramirez. Little Miss Weslaco 2019 went to Stella Anais Silva, daughter of Rick and Amanda Silva. Stella is a first grader at Memorial Elementary.
Alexa Kaye Garcia, an eighth grader at Central Middle School, was named Miss Onion Fest 2019 and is the daughter of Jose Angel and Vanessa Garcia. Miss Onion Blossom 2019 is Jaymie Elisse Aguirre, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ricardo Aguirre. Jaymie is a fourth grader at Margo Elementary. Victoria Renee Barrera, a third grader at Cleckler-Heald Elementary, was named Miss Pearl Onion Princess 2019, and is the daughter of Gilberto Barrera Jr. and Cynthia Gonzalez.
Congratulations to all the girls for their hard work and dedication to the pageant. All the girls will be at the Texas Onion Fest on Saturday, March 23. The upcoming festival will feature musical performances, dancing horse shows, the healthy family area, kiddie rides, delicious food, the 1015 Market, cooking demonstrations, the famous Onion Eating Contest and MORE!
