The City of Weslaco and Mid Valley Airport will host its Second Annual Community Fly In Event on Saturday, October 13 from 8 am to 2 pm. The free event will feature plane rides, food and vendor booths, pilot education and airplane exhibits. Fly In events are designed to promote awareness of smaller municipal airports while attracting pilots to “fly in” and explore the community. In addition, airport director Andrew Munoz says that an event centered around aviation is also designed to create interest among young kids.
“The Fly-In is to invite the community in to a world that is unknown to many within the region: the world of aviation,” says Munoz. “Our main purpose is to expand the horizons of the community, especially our youth, to participate and learn more about aviation careers and help them find a future career path that would entice them.”
Tickets for plane rides are $10 a person presale, $15 onsite the day of the event. Tickets can be purchased at the Mid Valley Airport, located at 1909 Joe Stephens Ave. Cash only. For more information, contact Joanna at 956-969-0291
