This exclusive interview sheds light on Williamson’s banking background, civic involvement, and expectations for his new role.

Williamson started his banking career in 2004 with First National Bank and later moved to Plains Capital Bank before joining Texas National Bank. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, he brings valuable insights to his new role at the Hidalgo County RMA. Williamson is no stranger to community involvement. He has been an active participant in various community events and civic responsibilities through the Chamber of Commerce. His community-first mentality makes him a fitting candidate for a role on the visionary board of the RMA.

When asked about his upcoming plans, Williamson spoke with a sense of responsibility. He aims to steward community resources and aims to accelerate existing transportation projects, focusing on solving logistical and traffic issues in the rapidly growing Rio Grande Valley.

“The Rio Grande Valley is witnessing substantial growth in multiple sectors, like education, medical facilities, and infrastructure.” Williamson sees this as both a challenge and an opportunity for the RMA. While he doesn’t yet have concrete proposals, he is eager to contribute to enhancing and expediting existing plans.

Williamson is highly enthusiastic about his new role. He feels honored by Mayor Villalobos’ choice to appoint him and views the opportunity as a proof to his hard work at the office and in the community. Although he doesn’t know the term length of his service, Williamson is committed to the role. He ended the interview by stressing the importance of stewardship and community collaboration.
