Zacua is a Mexican brand of electric cars. According to the manufacturer, it is the first Mexican electric-vehicle brand designed to accelerate Mexico’s transition towards using environmentally friendly energy and producing zero-emission. Zacua is a functional small car and urban aesthetic vehicle.
The company was founded in 2017; the manufacturer inaugurated its assembly plant headquarters in Puebla, Mexico, in mid-2018. The assembly line is manual since each car is assembled by hand.
Zacua is a brand of the company Motores Limpios S.A de C.V., a Mexican company seeking to adequately respond to the basic needs of institutions, companies, and, above all, citizens; contributing positively both to the economic plane of the buyers, as well as in technological, social, and environmental aspects.
The Zacua MX 2 is a coupe with an aerodynamic and aesthetic design and trunk space of 38 square inches, while the Zacua MX 3 is a hatchback with a more classic design and 75 square inches of trunk space.
Both models have only two seats. All other elements are identical; Both reach a maximum speed of 53 miles per hour and a universal recharging time is eight hours. It also features ABS brakes, a navigation screen to monitor the vehicle’s status, plus Bluetooth connectivity. A full charge of the battery is rated for 100 miles. The manufacturer said it would vary depending on inclines, speed, and driver’s driving habits. The life cycle of the battery is about 3,000 cycles, which can be translated into around eight years of life. According to the manufacturer if it is charged from the minimum to the maximum (from 0 to 100%) every day.
Zacua plans to make most of its parts in Mexico, including the battery, engine, converter, charger, and powertrain, among other elements. The chassis and other components will be produced through a commercial agreement between French Chatenet – also credited with the vehicle’s design – and the Spanish company Dynamik Technological Alliance, responsible for engineering the Zacua Coupe. However, according to Jorge Martínez Ramos, Zacua’s executive president, is expecting that soon all the components of this vehicle will be manufactured in Mexico.
