MERCEDES, Texas –Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement (VIDA) has been awarded a $100,000 grant from Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc. (MHM) to support low-income students pursuing careers in nursing and allied health. This funding will enhance VIDA’s efforts to provide comprehensive training, financial assistance, and wraparound support services, helping individuals secure high-demand careers in the healthcare industry.

The grant will allow VIDA to provide career counseling, financial aid for tuition, books, uniforms, and required certifications, along with intensive case management to ensure students remain on track and complete their training. These services align with VIDA’s mission to bridge workforce gaps in the Rio Grande Valley by preparing underserved residents for stable, high-wage careers.
With this $100,000 grant, VIDA will continue addressing the region’s critical need for skilled healthcare professionals, ensuring students receive the necessary tools and support to achieve long-term career success.
