THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men’s Basketball Head Coach Matt Figger announced on Friday the signing of 6-11, 215-pound center Yves Nkomba for the 2022-23 season.
Nkomba is currently competing at Three Rivers College and averaging 5.5 minutes in six games, scoring six points with 13 rebounds for an average of 7.3 points and 16.0 rebounds per 40 minutes.
Last year, as a freshman at Paola College, Nkomba played in 14 games (five starts), shooting 43.8% from the floor and 71.4% from the foul line. He averaged 1.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 12.1 minutes per game, an average of 4.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.3 blocks per 40 minutes.
Originally from Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, Nkomba played prep basketball at Impact Basketball Academy.
“Yves is long and extremely athletic,” Figger said. “He’s a good rim protector and can really run in transition. He’s got a good second jump off the floor and has tremendous upside with legit size, so we’re excited to add him to our program.”
Nkomba joins 6-0 guard Adante Holiman and 6-7 forward Isaiah Barganier as part of the 2022-23 recruiting class.
