RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men’s Basketball Head Coach Matt Figger announced on Monday the signing of 6-0 guard Adante Holiman for the 2022-23 season.
Holiman is a senior at McAlester High School in McAlester, Okla. As a junior, Holiman averaged 31 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals while shooting 51% from the field, 40% from behind the arc and 85% from the foul line en route to McAlester News-Capital Player of the Year honors.
Prior to his junior season, ESPN named Holiman the No. 1 prospect in the state of Oklahoma in the 2022 recruiting class. That was following a sophomore campaign in which Holiman averaged 30 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals while earning McAlester News-Capital All-Area First Team honors.
“Adante’ Holiman is a really good get for us,” Figger said. “He’s got a high basketball IQ and a competitive nature about him. You can never have enough good point guards and I think he will be a really good addition to our team.”
Holiman joins 6-7 forward Isaiah Barganier as part of the 2022-23 recruiting class.
