The City of McAllen’s Bicentennial Boulevard extension construction is still ongoing and a troubling trend is emerging that is cause for concern: McAllen residents are running and biking along the constructed road extension as contractors are working in the area.  This is especially worrying to contractors who are operating heavy equipment and vehicles along the road.  This is creating a potentially dangerous situation for anyone on-site other than authorized personnel.

“McAllen residents are always looking for ways to stay healthy and while we applaud and encourage their dedication, we must tell them that the Bicentennial Boulevard extension construction area is absolutely off-limits to them,” said McAllen City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E.  “This is an active construction area and is simply not safe for anyone not associated with the extension project.”

All residents are prohibited from any activity along the construction area of Bicentennial Boulevard.
