McAllen will be the host city for the 3rd Annual International Critical Issues Leadership Conference. The three-day conference will be held October 30th through November 1st of this year and will take place at the DoubleTree Hotel. Approximately 200 school administrators, law enforcement personnel and state officials are among the visitors expected to generate an estimated $105,000 for local businesses.

“We are honored McAllen has been chosen as the gathering place to address the significant issues of School Safety and Student Wellness,” said Lisa Ramirez, Convention Sales Manager, McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s Convention & Visitors Bureau.

International alarm regarding school safety has escalated this decade. Most recently, the Santa Fe High School shooting on May 18 stirred concerns regarding actions schools may take to better address student wellness factors that are not limited to anxiety, depression, and suicide.
