“The 4th of July is about celebrating America’s independence and here in McAllen, we celebrate our freedom every day, thanks to the sacrifice of those who have served and for some, who died to protect our freedom, our way of life, and yes, even our safety and security,” said McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos.  “On that fateful day in July, our heroes were doing their job to serve and protect McAllen and all its residents.  We want to thank the families of Officer Chavez and Officer Garza for allowing us to continue to honor and remember their service and sacrifice to our great city.”
