MCALLEN, Texas—The Greater McAllen Association of REALTORS® recently held a ribbon cutting and open house to celebrate its grand opening on the morning of December 15, 2016. “We are very proud of this building because it represents all the good that REALTORS® do in this community.” said 2016 President Adrian Aron Arriaga.
“You are really an indicator of success,” added Steve Ahlenius, President of McAllen Chamber of Commerce, “If you look at our economic pulse we look at real estate sales, existing home sales, commercial construction, all of those things that you touch in so many different ways. So REALTORS® are a big part of what is happening and you really are an extension of our story that we tell not only for McAllen but all the communities that you are involved in.”
Senator Juan Chuy Hinojosa provided the group his outlook for the 2017 legislative session and encouraged the REALTORS® who were present to visit him at the Capitol during the legislative session if they had any issues that they were concerned about.
Every legislative session, thousands of Texas REALTORS® from across the state go to Austin to meet with state lawmakers and discuss legislative priorities. These dedicated Texas REALTORS® spend the day talking about property-tax relief, consumer-friendly reforms to the property-appraisal process, and more.
President Arriaga mentioned the capitol visit during the ribbon cutting and encouraged all who were interested to sign up and participate in the trip. Greater McAllen Association of REALTORS® expects to have over 50 REALTORS® participate.
