Internationally renowned children’s book author and illustrator Rosemary Wells, the creator of the ever-popular Max & Ruby children’s show and books, will present at the McAllen Public Library on January 10, 2020, to more than 600 school children from throughout the Rio Grande Valley.  Classes were selected based on teacher video submissions telling why their students should meet the author.

In addition, everyone is invited to a special event, “Read to Your Bunny,” with the author on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. This free program is intended for parents, grandparents, teachers, and caregivers. During the presentation, children will attend a special reading program in the Children’s Storytime Room, featuring Wells’ latest book.  The public will then join in a celebration of the newly unveiled Rosemary Wells Art Exhibition, a series of Ms. Wells’ original illustrations of Max’s Valentine, and a gift by the author to the McAllen Public Library. A light lunch reception will follow.

“We are thrilled to host Rosemary Wells at the McAllen Public Library, with special programs for select school children and the general public,” said Kate Horan, McAllen Public Library Director. “Additionally, we are so honored that Ms. Wells chose McAllen Public Library to receive the gift of her artwork, which will serve as inspiration for parents and caregivers to read to their children every day,” she concluded.
