Texas Border Business
South Texas Reads! presented by the McAllen Public Library, is a region-wide literary event encouraging the Rio Grande Valley community to read and discuss the same book. This is a South Texas Book Festival special event series that will include two virtual discussion groups on Tuesday, October 20 and Thursday, October 22, and a special free online presentation by the author on Friday, October 30.
The featured book is Your Hidden Superpower: The Kindness that Makes You Unbeatable at Work and Connects You with Anyone by Good Morning America correspondent and anchor Adrienne Bankert. It explores the hidden power of kindness as a game-changer in business, the door-opener to opportunity, and the key to authenticity and confidence.
McAllen Public Library invites the public to pick up their free copy of the book and sign a pledge to attend a virtual book discussion. Participants do not need to be residents of McAllen or have a library card. South Texas Reads! is open to everyone. Copies of the book can be picked up at any McAllen Public Library location, including Curbside Drive-Thru at the Main Library while supplies last.
“South Texas Reads! is a safe and fun way to engage our community in a thoughtful exchange of ideas and perspectives and foster a sense of unity and kindness,” said Director Kate Horan. “I invite the public to get a free copy of the book and join in the discussion and celebrity presentation as part of the South Texas Book Festival activities.”
