Let’s Move! pep rally part of event celebration
McAllen- The City of McAllen, McAllen Independent School District, The McAllen Monitor, Telemundo-40, A&M Healthy South Texas, Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance, Rio Grande Regional Hospital and United Healthcare, are once again hosting the McAllen Kids Marathon, with a grand kickoff this Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2001 North Bicentennial Boulevard.
McAllen youth will walk or run their first mile at the event and must complete 25.2 miles prior to the McAllen Kids Marathon on January 14, 2017 where they will be able to run their last mile during the event. Students will log their miles during their Physical Education classes or on their own.
The McAllen Kids Marathon is for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

WHY: Promoting health and fitness in the McAllen community. Both the school district and city have been recognized for their health-awareness efforts.
