ALERT: Freezing temperature forecasts for tonight and early Tuesday morning are expected to significantly increase the demand for electricity which could result in power outages at some McAllen ISD campuses (as we have already experienced today).

Therefore, McAllen ISD will continue with 100% remote instruction on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Students will learn from home and meal distribution will be canceled for the day. However, meals for today and Tuesday will be bundled with Wednesday and Thursday meals.

Students who do not have their District-issued instructional devices with them are asked to reach out and make arrangements with their teachers.
Most staff will continue to work from home Tuesday. A limited number of employees may be needed to respond to facility and other issues. Hourly staff whose role prohibits them to work from home will not lose hours. They may have a delayed start to their workday on Tuesday, and/or make up hours later in the week. More information regarding work schedules will be shared with them by their direct supervisor.

Presently, in-person instruction, meal distribution and bus routes are planned to resume on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, and all staff will report to work. The district will continue monitoring weather forecasts and will post updates if any changes are needed.
