The McAllen City Commission approved an expansion of the McAllen Recycling Center to better serve the growing community. To support this important upgrade, a $1 adjustment to the Recycling Fee will take effect across residential, commercial, industrial, and roll-off solid waste accounts. The rate will then decrease by $0.25 in both fiscal years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027, stabilizing at a new rate thereafter.
The Recycling Center improvements will enhance the facility’s ability to handle the increasing volume of materials collected weekly and directly dropped off by residents, ensuring the sustainability of McAllen’s environmental efforts.
“By approving this modest adjustment, we’re making an investment in a more efficient and capable Recycling Center that will better serve McAllen’s residents and businesses,” said McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos. “These upgrades reinforce our commitment to environmental responsibility, and with the gradual rate reduction, we’re making sure this initiative remains accessible to everyone while strengthening our city’s recycling capabilities for years to come.”
