McAllen to host Free Spring Cleaning Day

McAllen-  The winter blues are long gone and spring is in the air. In an effort to assist McAllen residents with their spring cleaning, the City of McAllen will host an all-day Spring Cleaning Day on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

McAllen Public Works invites residents to clean their homes, yards and patios and drop off their bulky ítems, trash and debris.  

“The goal is to beautify McAllen, and to keep the community safe and healthy as well,” said Public Works Director Elvira Alonzo. “McAllen Spring Cleaning Day is a great option for those who cannot make it out to the Recycling Center or for those items that do not fit in the trash.”

Roll-off bins will be set up in each commissioner’s district at the following locations:

District 1-Bill Schupp Park                                     1300 Zinnia Avenue

District 2-McAllen Recycling Center                 4101 North Bentsen Road

District 3- Las Palmas Community Center       1925 North 25th Street

District 4-Old Compost Site                           4101 Idela Road

District 4-Sundance Mobile Park                    South 33rd Street and Erie Avenue

        District 5-Development Center                      311 North 15th Street

        District 6-Cascade Park                                 1000 Bales Road

Unacceptable items include:

·       Paints, pesticides and chemicals

·       Motor oil

·       Construction material

·       Electronics

This FREE event is only open to McAllen residents only.  Residents must bring proof of McAllen residency, including an acceptable Texas ID and a utility or other bill. For additional information, please visitwww.mcallen.net or call (956) 681-3111.
