Texas Border Business
The McAllen High Mariachi Oro students spent a week at the University of Texas at Austin’s Butler School of Music from June 29 – July 3, participating in the annual Longhorn Mariachi Music Summer Camp that provided instruction to hundreds of students from across the state.
Master mariachi clinicians/musicians helped students hone their musical skills and focused on fundamentals, style, interpretation, instrumental and vocal performance, music history and then capped it off with a grand concert that featured all camp participants.
McAllen High Mariachi Oro Instructor Alex Trevino thanked Professor Monica Fogelquist (UT Austin Mariachi Director) and all the UT Music Camp instructors for extending this invitation to his students.  Â
