McAllen High Mariachi students earned six spots on the TMEA Region 15 Mariachi group.
This includes Natalie Carmona (First Chair Soprano), Ashley Treviño (violin), Miguel Macías (First Chair Tenor and violin), Jesús Villegas (trumpet) and Andrew Salinas (violin). Over the Thanksgiving Break, students auditioned for what is the most competitive TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) Region in Texas.
“We are extremely proud of all of them for their passion, dedication, work ethic and genuine love for music that drives them to compete at this level,” McAllen High Mariachi Instructor Alex Trevino said. “They will be taking part in the TMEA Mariachi Region 15 Clinic and Concert coming up in the spring alongside the rest of the All-Star Group selected from the Region. What a huge honor for all involved and way to represent McAllen High School and McAllen ISD.”
