McAllen Economic Development Corporation Continues Support for Industrial Growth Groundbreakings and Grand Openings

McAllen, TEXAS – McAllen Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce the growth of business in various industrial parks within McAllen the week of March 2, 2020.  Three companies are set to celebrate their development within the manufacturing and produce industry in McAllen.  The public is invited to join in the celebrations.

At 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, two companies, Mercorp and Tetakawi will be breaking ground on a first of its kind industrial park.  The new industrial park will be located directly across the street from the McAllen Economic Development Corporation.  Mercorp-Inc. will be constructing a new 35,000 square foot facility with a capital investment of $3 Million and will create approximately 100 new jobs over the next 5 years. 

Tetakawi will be adding a presence in McAllen during the coming year in partnership with Mercorp. In 2019, Tetakawi began its 33rd year in business with the consolidation of all its brands into one: Tetakawi.  With 24,000 employees in Mexico, and new product offerings, Tetakawi embodies the strengths and experience that companies have come to rely on.

At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, SiCar Farms will have its official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6700 S. Bentsen Rd., McAllen, Texas.  SiCar Farms takes pride in being a reliable grower in fresh citrus, fruit, and vegetables.  SiCar Farms will be touring members of the McAllen Community of their new state-of-the-art 100,000 square foot facility.  The initial investment SiCar Farms has injected into the McAllen produce industry has totaled $20 million and 200 employees.  The business community and public are invited to celebrate and experience their newest production plant. 

Aside from encouraging and supporting the growth within the manufacturing and production industry, McAllen Economic Development Corporation continues to build partnerships with organizations within aerospace, customer care, data center, and advance manufacturing.  Future ceremonies are planned for approximately ten more companies who are relocating, expanding or starting their presence in McAllen, Texas.
