The City of McAllen and McAllen Crime Stoppers are hosting their annual Turkey Meal Give Away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the McAllen Police Department, 1601 N. Bicentennial Blvd. Participating families will receive a Thanksgiving meal. McAllen area families are pre-selected by McAllen Independent School District counselors and teachers and by the McAllen Police Department.
The McAllen Crime Stoppers Board raised funds from the community for this special event to purchase Thanksgiving turkey dinners for about 250 families with modest means.
And, a McAllen Police Department “Ticket or Turkey” Event.
During the morning hours on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Traffic Enforcement Officers of the Police Department may choose to give a turkey in lieu of a traffic violation ticket.
This turkey giveaway is designed as a goodwill gesture during this special holiday.
At all times and during this special significant time, the McAllen Police Department urges all drivers to exercise maximum driver safety.
“Crime Stoppers is a valued tool for the Police Department but, during the holidays, it’s about showing our thanks to our community. McAllen Crime Stoppers is a citizen group that volunteers to raise funds to pay citizens for information or TIPS anonymously,” said Chief of Police Victor Rodriguez. “We are very proud to be part of this and very glad we have the leadership of the Crime Stoppers Board to get this done.”
