The McAllen Citizens League will host a candidate forum for the McAllen City Commission District 5 special election on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the DoubleTree Hotel, 1800 South 2nd Street in McAllen, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Organizers state that all candidates will participate in the forum.

MCL, which has served its members and the community since 1952, states that its luncheon meetings are designed to bring forward issues of public importance. The District 5 race follows former commissioner Seby Haddad’s decision to seek the seat of State Rep. R D Bobby Guerra, prompting the City to call a special election.
