Texas Border Business
A delegation from McAllen headed by Mayor Javier Villalobos visited Apodaca recently to formalize the Sister City Relationship with Apodaca, Nuevo Leon and McAllen, Texas by the signing of a Sister City Agreement by City of Apodaca’s Mayor Cesar Garza Villarreal and McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos. Through this agreement, both cities have been joined in a long-term mutual partnership of collaboration and support in the promotion of business, trade & investments, educational exchanges, cultural exchanges, tourism promotion and exchange of good practices.

This mutual collaboration can be successfully executed through bilateral trade missions to explore economic development opportunities; by giving opportunity to students from both communities to have access to relevant workshops, symposia, conferences, and internships; through key promotional campaigns highlighting tourist attractions in both communities as well as sharing and promoting air and land connectivity routes; and finally by the exchange of better practices in urban planning, waste management, public safety, technology and more.

About Apodaca with a population of over 700K is Nuevo Leon’s most important industrial city as it houses 70% of Nuevo Leon industrial plants. Apodaca is also the home to Monterrey International Airport.
