McAllen, Texas — The City of McAllen is moving forward with a major initiative to support the long‑term growth and revitalization of its downtown district. Following the adoption of the updated Unified Development Code (UDC), the City has implemented new zoning measures designed to expand allowable land uses and encourage strategic, community‑oriented development in the city’s urban core.

As part of this effort, the City is partnering with Mend Collaborative, a planning and urban design firm, to conduct a comprehensive study of the downtown area. The study will evaluate current conditions, identify opportunities for improvement, and outline benefits that future redevelopment could bring to residents, businesses, and visitors.

To share these updates and gather community input, the City of McAllen will host an upcoming Town Hall Meeting
