Laredo, Texas – The City of Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz informs and makes it official that as of today, January 21st, Robert A. Eads has resigned from his position as City Manager for personal reasons, primarily to spend more quality time with his family. Mayor Saenz would also like to clarify that the former City Manager’s decision is not related to the recent FBI activities regarding a federal elected official. The City of Laredo is working towards a smooth transition and will keep the public and city staff informed on this matter.
“I want to sincerely express my gratitude to Mr. Robert A. Eads for his years of service as City Manager and other positions previously held with the City of Laredo. I wish him and his family the best of luck on their future endeavors. Please be reassured that I, along with the Laredo City Council, will ensure the transition process takes place as quickly as possible,” states Mayor Saenz.
The Laredo City Council will regroup for a Special City Council meeting on Monday, January 24th, at 1:30 P.M. to discuss and appoint an Interim City Manager as well as address any other related matters. Mayor Saenz will abstain from making any further comments at this time and until after Monday’s meeting.
