COLLEGE STATION – Graduate student Paul May finished 47th in the shot put for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) track & field team during the third day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round on Friday at Texas A&M’s E.B. Cushing Stadium.
After fouling on his first two attempts, May recorded a discus throw of 45.77 meters to place 47th out of 48.
Junior Harry Barthelemy, who qualified in the triple jump, did not compete due to injury.
UTRGV concludes action on Saturday as graduate student Desirea Buerge competes in the discus at 1:30 p.m. and freshman Tamara Woodley competes in the 400-meter dash quarterfinals at 7:20 on SEC Network+.
The program record holder in the discus, Buerge currently ranks 46th in the world, sixth among Americans, fifth in the west region and sixth in NCAA Division I.
Woodley qualified for the quarterfinals by finishing 24th with a program record time of 53.53 on Thursday in the opening round.
