Officials of The University of Texas-Pan American and members of the Edinburg Rotary recently celebrated the generosity of longtime UTPA and Rotary supporters Doug (BS ’75) and his son Greg Martin (BBA ’08) of Martin Farm & Ranch Supply Inc., who have donated money toward establishing an endowment at UT Pan American to honor Doug’s parents Harriette Hagedorn Martin (’37) and Alfred “Al” Martin. The endowment will provide much needed scholarships to UT Pan American students. Al, who, after his military service in WW II, returned to work with the Texas Veterans Commission to help GIs gain access to higher education, founded Martin Farm & Ranch Supply Inc. in 1955. Al served on the Pan American College Board of Regents from 1960-65 and many of the couple’s nine children attended or graduated from UT Pan American. Al Martin’s grandson Greg is also a fourth generation Rotarian and a proud supporter of the Edinburg community. The check was presented by the Doug (left center) and Greg (right center) to UTPA Vice President for University Advancement Veronica Gonzales at an August Edinburg Rotary luncheon. If you would like to support the Harriette Hagedorn Martin and Alfred Martin Memorial Scholarship or learn other ways you can invest in The University of Texas-Pan American, contact the Development Office at (956) 665-5301.
