EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents continue to interdict narcotic smuggling attempts. 

On Tuesday night, agents working near La Rosita, Texas, responded to the report of a gray Isuzu SUV loaded with narcotics traveling at a high rate of speed away from the Rio Grande. Upon arrival, responding agents located the vehicle submerged in the Rio Grande. Upon closer inspection, agents observed several bundles of narcotics still inside the vehicle. Agents had the vehicle extracted from the river and discovered over 1,200 pounds of marijuana inside, worth an estimated $986K.

Early this morning, agents patrolling near Falcon Heights, Texas, observed several subject load bundles of narcotics into a white pickup parked near the Rio Grande. As agents responded, the pickup left the area at a high rate of speed. Agents searched for the vehicle and located the abandoned pickup near a mobile home. In the bed of the pickup, agents discovered 50 bundles of marijuana weighing over 1,100 pounds, worth an estimated value of $903K.

Since October 1, 2018, agents have seized over 100,000 pounds of marijuana in the RGV Sector alone.
