On May 3,  FTB agents attempted to initiate an immigration inspection on the occupants of a Chevrolet Silverado believed to have loaded migrants or narcotics near the Rio Grande in Brownsville. The driver failed to yield and led agents and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on a vehicle pursuit. The vehicle drove through a fence and struck a Border Patrol vehicle before driving into the Rio Grande. The driver was observed going into Mexico, leaving behind the Silverado with 22 bundles of marijuana valued at almost 400,000 USD.  Agents believe the vehicle was ferried across the Rio Grande River.
