EDINBURG – Juan Manuel Alvarado – who will soon retire – was honored in Commissioners Court for his outstanding work and dedication the citizens of Hidalgo County.
The Court unanimously approved a resolution recognizing his 27 years of service.
“It’s an honor and privilege to be here this morning,” said Alvarado. “There is a long list of mentors and coworkers that I had the privilege of working with.”
Born in Reynosa, Alvarado began his career with the Hidalgo County Auditor’s Office as an Office Clerk under the direction of Stephen F. Austin, CPA, and was soon promoted to Fixed Assets Internal Auditor. In 2008, Alvarado transferred to the Hidalgo County Purchasing Department and contributed to the development of the Compliance and Reporting Division as the Division Manager.
“Mr. Alvarado is an admirable employee,” said Hidalgo County Purchasing Agent Martha Salazar. “He came to this country to achieve the American Dream.”
As a believer of hard work, Alvarado read a quote from part of a column written by County Judge Richard F. Cortez.
“We can set Hidalgo County on the path to a cycle of prosperity,” he read.
“In a county like ours, the American Dream is possible,” said Alvarado.
The county wishes Alvarado a long, healthy and happy retirement and congratulates him for 27 years of committed service.
