Texas Border Business
Danielle Chapa-Salinas, a Weslaco native, grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. She is quickly making a name for herself in the business world locally by launching her first line of luxury clothing. Danielle made the Valley the launch venue for Maison de Papillon.
In the midst of success as an administrator for her husband’s Dental practice, RGV Smiles, Danielle decided to take a leap of faith and pursue the career of her dreams. “It totally came to me in a dream. I just jumped out of bed & went for it. I wanted to create a line of luxury loungewear that has never been created before,” and with that determination she started her journey. Designing and creating Maison de Papillon has made her relocate to the fashion capital of the United States; New York City and one of the best fashion schools in the world; Parsons the New School for Design.
Maison de Papillon is French for butterfly house and it was named in honor of her late father, Daniel Chapa, who recently lost his battle with cancer. The designer had moments after his death that she would see butterflies and in her heart she knew it was a sign that her dad was watching over her.
The fashion house is created with the love and devotion she always felt unconditionally from her dad. Even though she lives and works in New York City, the Rio Grande Valley will always be “home” for her and her clothing line.
Danielle will have her clothing line at her pop up boutique inside Toni Livingston’s Collection in McAllen and readily available on her online boutique www.maisondepapillon.
She wants to always have connections to her home and encourages everyone to communicate with her on Facebook @MaisonDePapillon, Twitter @MDPapillon, Instagram @MaisondePapillon, and Pinterest@MaisonNewYork.
