Edinburg- Leadership Edinburg Class XXVIII recently completed their Media, Politics and Government session. The Class held its session on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Edinburg City Hall Chambers.

The session offered insights and knowledge on each topic and their impact on our community. Panelist also discussed the importance of working together, keeping the public informed and making the best decisions for the entire community.  The session agenda included discussion from representatives of iHeart Media, The Monitor, Edinburg Cable Network, City of Edinburg, Edinburg C.I.S.D., Offices of Hidalgo County, and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The session also provided Q & A opportunities with panelist and toured the City of Edinburg facilities and departments.

Speakers included Dimitra Hernandez-ECN Channel 12 Reporter; Stephan Wingart- The Monitor-Regional Vice President/ Publisher; Billy Santiago- iHeart Media Operations Director Rio Grande Valley & Corpus Christi; Sarith Tamez- iHeart Media Gov’t Account Executive; John Richards- iHeart Media Account Executive; Richard Molina- City of Edinburg Council Member; Richard Hinojosa- City of Edinburg- City Manager; Mike Farias- ECISD School Board Member; Richard Sanchez- UTRGV Associate VP for Gov’t Relations and Joseph Palacios – Hidalgo County Commissioner.

Leadership Edinburg is a program designed by the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce to allow the class members to interact with one another and members of the community to encourage a better Edinburg. The nine month program is structured to help class members understand the problems and opportunities we face through strong leadership skills focusing on politics, history, education, healthcare and quality of life.
