Laredo, Texas – The City of Laredo unveiled the Lance Corporal David Lee Espinoza Memorial Boulevard at Cielito Lindo Blvd. in honor of the late marine. There was an unveiling ceremony on Friday, November 19th, to introduce the new road sign. The renaming was approved by the Laredo City Council on September 7,2021. The sign will memorialize the fallen hero’s name and has been installed at the 100th block of what is known as Cielito Lindo Blvd.
Present during the ceremony were City Council Member for District 1, Rudy Gonzalez, Council Member for District 3, Mercurio Martinez III, City Manager, Robert Eads, the parents for LCPL Espinoza, the LBJ High School Navy Jr. ROTC, LBJ High School Student Council, and Members of the Veterans Affairs Committee.
“He served not only the country, but he also served us. Now we celebrate his life today and forever because he gave his life for us,” said Council Member for District 1, Rudy Gonzalez. “Not a lot of people have the courage to put on that uniform and get in the front line, which he did for us. Thank you!”
