HAVANA, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents continue to face overwhelming numbers of illegal aliens entering through the Rio Grande Valley (RGV).
On Tuesday, Border Patrol agents working near Havana, Texas, encountered a group of 60 illegal aliens consisting primarily of family units and unaccompanied children. Within hours, the group swelled to a group of 132 individuals who readily turned themselves into agents.
That evening, just past midnight, agents responded to the report of a large group of people congregating on the Mexican riverbank. Over the next few hours, agents took custody of 308 illegal aliens primarily consisting of family units and unaccompanied children.
Since October 1, 2018, agents in the RGV Sector have encountered over 50 large groups of illegal aliens turning themselves in. These large groups are classified as groups of illegal aliens totaling more than 100 people.
