LAREDO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Laredo Port of Entry recently seized narcotics valued at more than $1.3 million in two separate enforcement actions.
“These two back-to-back seizures of hard narcotics demonstrate the unwavering resolve of our officers to keep dangerous drugs out of our communities,” said Port Director Alberto Flores. “Their professionalism and attention to detail are vital to our mission, and this accomplishment highlights the outstanding work being done every day at Laredo Port of Entry.”
The first seizure occurred on March 31 at the World Trade Bridge, when a CBP officer referred a 64-year-old male Mexican citizen driving a tractor trailer hauling a shipment of leather bags for further inspection. Following a canine and nonintrusive inspection system examination, CBP officers discovered 49 packages containing a total of 112.47 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within the trailer.
The narcotics have a street value of $1,034,227.

The second seizure occurred on April 1 at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge, when a CBP officer referred a 2015 Chrysler 200 driven by a 25-year-old male U.S. citizen with a 24-year-old female U.S. citizen passenger for further inspection. Following a canine and nonintrusive inspection system examination, CBP officers discovered 10 packages containing a total of 25.37 pounds of suspected cocaine within the vehicle. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $338,808.CBP seized the narcotics, tractor, trailer and the other vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations special agents arrested the truck driver, the driver and passenger of the Chrysler and initiated criminal investigations into both seizures
